Browns Farm, based in Lower Gollinrod in Bury, is a family run business and has been established over 20 years.
We are a leading supplier of high quality firewood and smokeless fuels in Bury and the surrounding areas.
Why Should I Use Kiln Dried Wood?
As the main local stockist for kiln dried hardwood logs in the Bury North and Ramsbottom area we supply superior quality, environmentally sourced, clean and long burning, carbon neutral firewood.
‘WoodSure’ Kiln dried to less than 20% moisture (average), ready to burn and supplied in handy retail packaging.
Tightly packed in the bag, they stack and store well.
All the kiln dried wood we supply is WoodSure accredited which means it is dried to a standard – ready to burn.
Basically, kiln dried firewood has many advantages, such as:
- The drying process eliminates the presence of any bugs and parasites within the wood.
- It also eliminates the presence of mould, mildew and toxins within the wood as well.
- Kiln dried wood has a much lower moisture content (10-20%) so it produces less smoke and odours.
- Kiln dries wood is ready to burn and will ignite easier that wet wood.
- It produces more heat with a brighter burn.
- It is easier to store indoors as it has less bark and debris.
- This also reduces the amount of spitting and crackling associated with wetter wood.

Kiln Dried Oak
Kiln Dried Oak is a great option for burning. With its low moisture content, it produces a long, slow burn which is ideal for indoor wood burners. It’s also a great choice for pizza ovens as it produces less smoke and odours so it won’t affect the taste of your food. Oak is also harder than birch meaning it will burn longer. For the best results, add Oak to an already lit fire.
Kiln Dried Silver Birch
Kiln dried silver birch, like ash, is also a fantastic choice for indoor wood burners and pizza ovens. As well as having a low moisture content, it also contains resins that act as a natural firelighter meaning it will ignite easier than most woods.
All our kiln dried logs are available in handy net bags, larger cleaner boot bags and in bulk builders bags. All products can be collected from our conveniently located shop or delivered (subject to location and product quantity).
Smokeless Fuel
Our smokeless fuel is:
- Clean and dry in strong polythene bags
- Bags are 25kg in weight
- Gives attractive flames with a high heat output
- Low ash residue
